Our Vision
Our vision is to bring our customers the best honey, honey related products and fresh in-season produce available. And to do this as organically as humanly possible!
Our Story
I grew up on a farm in southwest Kansas. My husband grew up in a very small farming community in western Kansas where he spent summers earning money for college as a hired hand for an area farmer. Shortly after our marriage, we moved to an area where we were able to have a small acreage. Part of our acreage we called the “north 4,” knowing that we wanted to do something using that particular piece of land. So, North 4 Acres started 20+ years ago as a way to teach our children the value of hard work, harvesting of fresh produce, and learning customer service skills at our vendor booth. For years we discussed the addition of honey bees to our acreage and are delighted with the results!
Why the interest in honeybees? It started with a Catholic Priest and beekeeper in Cunningham, Kansas – Fr. John Rinkenmeyer. Fr. John was appointed to the parish in which I grew up. When we moved to the farm, Fr. John would show up each fall with a quart jar full of honey for our family. It fascinated me! When an elementary school book order was placed (Late ’60’s, I believe in 3rd/4th grade), I order a paperback book on beekeeping. I still have it!
We hope you are able visit our vendor booth, as well as the booths of other vendors! After 20+ years, it is like having another extended family 🙂 We so enjoy visiting with the same customers year after year after year. Thank you!
